Fiber Optic Cable

INSTALLATION OF FIBER OPTIC CABLES

Fiber optic cable is designed specifically for installation by the manufacturer. In comparison to copper wire, fiber optic cable allows pull with greater force when done correctly. You've got to keep in mind, there will always be a right and wrong way to do things when it comes to any sort of installation.

GUIDELINES
Each manufacturer may have different guidelines to follow. Our team determines which methods to follow and carefully assesses the obstacles we may encounter.

DID YOU KNOW?
Fiber optic cables have been used for years to transfer data efficiently. They are used by cable television, the internet, phones, engineers and doctors. These cables allow doctors see inside body parts where surgery is needed.

Fiber Splicing

FUSION & MECHANICAL FIBER SPLICING

Fiber splicing is a method that involves two fiber optic cables joining together. This results in less loss of light than other methods, such as termination or connectorization.

FUSION SPLICING
This is used to align the fiber ends of the optic cables. The glass ends are then fused using heat. This method results in very minimal loss of light transmission.

MECHANICAL SPLICING
Mechanical splices are devices that hold the two fiber ends in an aligned position. This enables light to smoothly pass from one fiber to the other.

Which method is better? It varies depending on the type of investment that you are looking to make. Mechanical splicing has a low initial investment, costing more per splice. Fusion splicing's initial investment is much higher but lower per splice. Contact us for more information.
